RE: Post Your 'B' Sightings Here

Saw two today. The first, a Coachmen on a Ford. Was white with blue, MA plates. Saw this one on Watertown St, Newton, at about 7:45am. The second was about 10am on 128/95. It was a RT 210, also white w/blue. I was headed south, it was headed north, so I didn't see it close enough to see where it was from.

RE: New York to LA!

I'd love to do this trip with unlimited time and money myself! Almost 40 years ago I did it, and then this year again,, but rushed both times. Everyone's suggestions are great, but also, how about Zion Canyon,The Grand Tetons, Mt Rushmore... and so much more! This is one beautiful country for sure!

RE: Favorite homemade gizmo for your B

Hmm, considering that the whole thing is DIY it's hard to say.... the most useful has been the bed/table/storage box/seats though

RE: Having trouble justifying costs

I'm building mine too.Funny thing is that I didn't start out to make a B.I bought a van because it came up on Craigslist and fit my tiny budget, but was big enough to tow my bass boat. Then I decided it would be nice to be able to sleep in it the night before a tournament, no more "sleep driving" in the early mornings. The PO had already taken out the middle seat and it came with a porta-potti, a sink and a large fridge (which I sold and replaced with a smaller one). The idea hit to make an enclosed area for the porta-potti,and, well, the rest is history! Now it has a bathroom, bed/table setup, 110v wiring, inverter, TV,VCR and digital converter box, Coleman Stove and a pressurized water system. I sleep quite comfortably now! I bought a small generator to run some small 110v appliances also. The DW even likes going in it now! My 3 year old grandson isn't so sure... he calls it "Poppa's OLD car" Like the poster before me, I'd buy a factory unit if I could, but then I'd never want to get out of it! There's just too many good times to be had!

RE: "House Battery Height" in older RoadTrek Independents

Suggestions for MD trip

My son is soon to be stationed at Fort Meade, MD.so DW and I are thinking about taking my van down there during the February school vacation. So, the question is...does anyone know of a place where we could get a site with electric within say 10 miles of there?

RE: BBBB - Bed Bath & Beyond for my B - some mods

Just one problem. I don't have an iron or an ironing board. :o I bookmarked your blog. Thanks. I didn't use an ironing board.. I used newspapers on a table. As for an ... I bought one at Walmart for about $7.

RE: BBBB - Bed Bath & Beyond for my B - some mods

I found a way around the stitching! Heat Bond...iron on fabric adhesive. I just used it tonight to make a curtain for my van. I'll let you know about the longevity of the stuff in a few days. You can see the curtain and the inside back of my DIY B at my blog.

Nice job! I'm in awe of your sewing ability... it took me several nights to learn how to use a sewing machine...sorta. One of the most aggravating things I've ever attempted!

RE: My DH won't turn over the wheel

It's my van, my wheels. What really kind of ticks me off is when he rearranges all of my stuff in the cockpit area. Grrrrrrrr...... That's one of my biggest pet peeves! My boss does it in my 10-wheeler, which I drive all week and he might drive for an hour on Saturday... The steering wheel is at a bus driver's tilt, the seat is slid backand at a different height... grrr! Luckily my wife is afraid to drive my van, so that never gets changed.

RE: Post Your 'B' Sightings Here

Although I seldom see them close enough to ID them I do watch for B's when we go anywhere.... and did see 3 of them headed north on I95 in Maine Sunday. They were very scattered, so they weren't even close to being with each other.

RE: Maiden voyage

I would use an air mattress due to price considerations, but they are too long for my bed, which is only 65 inches long. I'd cut a memory foam mattress to the correct length if I could find one that fits the budget.
